Constance Ignores Citizens’ Requests

Editor:
Recent MSBU meetings have been held in different locations of Charlotte County. I attended the meeting held at the Tringali Center on Thursday and was appalled at the direction a county commissioner took in response to a request for a postponement of a new tax assessment for Rotonda Meadows and Villas.
Every citizen who spoke publicly requested a postponement for a future date. The commissioners were listening and adopted a motion to accept their request. All except Chris Constance, the lone dissenter. His theory was that if we wait longer, then the cost would rise significantly.

So I guess all the requests from citizens didn’t mean a thing. Let’s keep in mind that the area that was at issue has no homes of electrical power. Amazing!
He also added that emergency vehicles might have difficulty responding with deteriorating roads. How absurd is this? Well, let me tell you how.

If there are no homes built on the streets and property values have decreased dramatically to the point where many lot owners’ tax responsibility has gone delinquent, and no power available, why, oh why, would the roads need to be resurfaced?
I know Chris Constance doesn’t live there, nobody does, yet he has the nerve to dissent on what the citizens are requesting. Forgive me for asking but doesn’t he work for us? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

With this mindset, it looks like he can return to his medical practice in the future because I would dissent to his being re-elected.
