Greedy to expand Charlotte County Government and it’s budget (meaning all taxpayers pay for it) Sheriff Bill Prummell and other unnamed County personnel tried to throw their weight around and overpower the Boca Grand Fire Department in a recent meeting.
By law, the Boca Grande Fire Control District extends from the Northernmost point of Gasparilla Island (Boca Grande) to its Southern tip. Sheriff Prummell and his County Government henchmen want to take over the 911 dispatch from the system used in the Northern part of the Island. Even when the current law was pointed out, Charlotte County EMS Dispatch and Fire Chief Marianne Taylor pushed Prummell’s, and the other anonymous County personnel’s, run-in with the rightful owner of the 911 dispatch services, the Boca Grande Fire Department.
For those of you unfamiliar with Boca Grande, it’s a small Island of approximately 2.5 square miles of land mass. Approximately 87% of it is part of Lee County and only the far Northern tip is in Charlotte County. “West Charlotte County” includes this part of Boca Grande and is a favorite place for County Government to run amuck, unchecked because it’s located far away from the County’s seats of power in Murdock & Punta Gorda. It’s not a joke that Boca Grande’s millionaires left long ago and it’s now populated by billionaires.
