RIPPING OFF THE TIF RIPOFF!
The story behind the original $9,000,000 TIF loan for the boondoggle “Parkside Beautification” was that it would be paid back with the “excess” property taxes from increased property values due to the beautification.
Property values rose before even one dime of taxpayer funded “beautification” has occurred. The politicians will tell you this increase in tax revenue is because of their brilliant Parkside Project and therefore is considered a repayment of TIF.
In other words, the “extra” $100,000 in property taxes collected this year is being attributed to a non-existent beautification. As shady as this is, what is worse is that Commissioner Deutsch now wants to spend this imaginary $100K… on something else. Like the career politician he is, Deutsch never saw a taxpayer dollar he couldn’t spend. Notice his evil wink.
