TURTLEGATE! PART II
STOP BAD GOVERNMENT GETS RESULTS!!!
Thanks to the honest county employee that contributed the story about county employee Lynette Auger storing a dead turtle in a county refrigerator containing food for employee lunches. How would you like to go get your lunch from the fridge and find a stinking, dead turtle next to it? YUM!
Sources revealed to SBG that Ms. Auger, aka “the Turtle Lady”, received a Written Warning for a “Safety and Health policy violation” for failing to properly store marine life — that would be the stinking, dead turtle. The written warning, posted here EXCLUSIVELY ON SBG, was only issued AFTER SBG revealed the story on our website. These documents show this isn’t the first time Ms. Auger has been warned by supervisors.

To the county’s credit, this situation is considered so serious a violation that it is specifically warned against in the Employee Health and Safety Program Handbook on page 18. It states, “Do not store food in refrigerators with chemical, biological or radioactive materials.”
Some might say this is a small incident, but consider the taxpayer dollars — time equals dollars — that were wasted to replace the tainted refrigerator. The County will have to dispose of the fridge and bear all the time and costs to do so, along with the purchasing of the new refrigerator, which will have to pass through the Finance and Purchasing Departments, costing more taxpayer dollars for labor. All of these additional costs are because Ms. Auger was too lazy, or too arrogant, to store the turtle carcass according to the rules — not with food. Common sense, right? If you can’t do the little things right, how can you do the big things?
SBG, and all taxpayers, send our special thanks to the brave and honest employee who anonymously reported the incident.
