AN OPEN LETTER TO THE COMMISSIONERS AND CCU DIRECTORY GARY HUBBARD

I attended the MSBU public hearings Tuesday night at the convention center with my husband. I think I have only attended one other public meeting, about 25 years ago, because I do not like politics.

But I will go on record to say that your meeting was the most insulting thing of which I have ever been involved. To sit for seven hours and stare at our county commissioners as you listened with such smugness and insincerity toward the various taxpayers telling you their thoughts and worries about their futures.

I’m not going to discuss my views about the “sewer project”, but rather how poorly and unprepared the meeting was conducted. You held this meeting in a larger capacity venue knowing a large turnout would be coming. It was appalling that you purposely delayed the largest MSBU, my project, so late into the evening knowing full well our wonderful senior population would probably just get disgusted and leave, as most did. Congratulations. Were you all cowards and didn’t have the guts to listen and listen and listen to all who wanted so much to be heard?

I’m glad we won the “battle” and maybe have a chance to win the war or, at least, have a strong discussion with you to make the final decision work for all.

And now that I have “tasted” Charlotte County politics, you cannot keep me away from the next meeting!
