The Sunrise Waterway has gotten worse over the past four months. The Charlotte County Commissioners did nothing. They claimed the problem was solved.
What appears to be massive Chara growth may also have algae growing back as well.
This is the exact location in Spring of 2009 that this canal began to fester and brew with what resulted in perhaps the worst Cyanobacteria bloom this county has ever seen, possibly the worst ever in Adkins history. Charlotte County Utilities lift station and dissolving sewer system infrastructure spewed sewage into the Waterway for years and covered it up from the public.
